John Martin “Red” Lynn Sr., 60, of La Porte City, died Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Allen Memorial Hospital of cancer. He was born January 23. 1948 in Chippewa Falls, WI the son William M. Lynn and June A. Stage (Lynn) and step father, Alfred K. Stage. He married Sharon K. Owen on February 3, 1969 in Omaha, NE.

He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1972. He worked at John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

Survived by his wife Sharon of La Porte City; one son, John (Michelle) Lynn of Dysart; one daughter, Tracy (Todd) Nunemaker of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Krista, Kara and Kayla Nunemaker of Waterloo, Makenzie, Andrew, Preston and Elisha Lynn of Dysart; two sisters, Vivian Danenburg of Chippewa Falls, WI, Frances Yeager of Waterloo and one brother, Phillip Lynn of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by his parents; stepfather; one grandson, Samuel Lynn and two brothers, William and James Lynn.

Services: will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at Crossroads Assembly of God (3205 Bethel St.) with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery both in Waterloo. Graveside Military Rites will be held by the La Porte City San Diego Post #203 . Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the Kearns, Huisman – Schumacher Chapel on Kimball and one hour before the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
