Elmer M. Christensen, 92, died of natural causes on Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. He was born August 19, 1914 in Hudson, Iowa, the son of Peter and Cena (Petersen) Christensen.

Elmer married Grace Gigl on March 8, 1941 in Waterloo, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1984. Elmer farmed in rural Black Hawk County for many years and was an equipment operator for twenty-four years with the Cedar Falls Utilities, retiring in 1978.

Survivors include three sons, Richard Christensen, Lynn (Joan) Christensen and Roger (Carla) Christensen, all of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Sharon (Randy) Magee, of Cedar Falls; ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife and parents; a daughter, Joann Christensen, in infancy; a brother, Earl Christensen; and five sisters, Thora Christensen, Agnes Minikus, Elsie Bruhn, Dagne Schmidt and his twin sister, Alma Johnson.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, September 14, 2006, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with interment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5—8:00 pm Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
