CEDAR FALLS - Maxine M. Schomaker, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Aug. 29, at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

She was born March 25, 1924, in Marathon, daughter of Gust and Hattie Lutter Turnquist. She married Clair Schomaker on Oct. 5, 1947, in Marathon. He died Dec. 23, 1979.

Mrs. Schomaker was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was employed as a secretary in the Sioux Valley School System prior to becoming a homemaker.

Survived by two sons, Steven (Bev) of Cedar Falls and Kenlee (Jane) of Early; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Lyle and Lawrence Turnquist; and a sister, Marge Madsen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Milford, with burial in Barnes Township Cemetery, Linn Grove. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church in Milford. Richardson Funeral Home assisted the family.

Memorials may be directed to the church at 1525 Three Cross Road, Milford 51351, in lieu of flowers.
