WATERLOO - Betty Jean Mettlin, 79, of Chesterfield, Mo., formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, Aug. 28, at Westchester House, Chesterfield.

She was born June 25, 1932, in Waterloo, daughter of Zenus and Florence Rice Struckman. She married Donald L. Mettlin on July 2, 1950, in Traer. He died July 16, 1995.

Mrs. Mettlin was a homemaker and also worked as a nurse's aide at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center for many years. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and a longtime volunteer for the Salvation Army and Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity.

Survived by a son, Brian of Evansdale; two daughters, Cathy (Dave) Porter of Manchester, Mo., and Jackie (Steve) Gerringa of Ninilchik, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan, Zach, Amanda, Kaylee, Bridger and Josh; two brothers, Charles and John Struckman; and a sister, Karen (Kyle) Lamb.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a son, David.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Garden View Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
