WATERLOO - Elmer E. Jergens, 76, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center, Cedar Falls.

He was born Dec. 6, 1934, in Waterloo, son of Ernest C. and Edith M. Shipp Jergens. He married Ruth P. Klemz on June 15, 1957, in Waterloo.

Mr. Jergens was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He worked as a mechanic at Rath Packing Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1984, then worked at Land-O-Lakes for five years, retiring in 1989. He also was a mechanic at IBP and a courier for Qwest Diagnostics.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Steven D. (Carla) of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Kevin A. (Kris) of Becker, Minn.; two daughters, Rebecca Ann (Mark) McCann of Jackson, Minn., and Cynthia L. (Danny) Wyatt of Hendersonville; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; and two brothers, Ernest "Bud" Jr. of Marshalltown and Larry (Nancy) of Cedar Falls.

Services 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Becker Chapman American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623.
