CEDAR FALLS - John H.H. Meier, 73, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, June 24, at home.

He was born Jan. 4, 1938, in Rock Island, Ill., son of Henry A. and Viola F. Bendt Meier. He married Coreen "Sue" Nelson on Dec. 20, 1958, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Mr. Meier graduated from Davenport High School in 1956 and from St. Ambrose College in 1962. He was employed with R&D Chamberlain Manufacturing for 30 years, retiring as project manager in 1992. He was a member of Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Johannes (Trisha) of Salt Lake City, Daniel of Heber, Utah, and Mark (Linda) of Lakeville, Minn.; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Carl (Beverly) of Davenport; a sister, Marianne Cloudas of Mystic, Conn.; five nieces; and seven nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorials may be directed to the Gift of Life Transplant House, 705 Second St. SW, Rochester, MN 55902; the church's grounds maintenance fund; or Cedar Valley Hospice.

John enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and playing tennis with his morning buddies at the Black Hawk Tennis Club, Waterloo.
