CLEMENT LEWIS JR. JEFFRIES – January 24, 1901—July 19, 1945

Clement L. Jeffries, Jr., 44, general foreman of John Deere Tractor Co., died of a malignant tumor at 3:15 p.m. Thursday in his home, 1428 Hawthorne Avenue. He had been ill for four months.

A resident of Waterloo since 1921, he had been employed at Deere’s for 17 years.

He was born January 24, 1901 near Osage, Iowa, a son of Clement L. and Delphine Wilson Jeffries. On February 6, 1925, he married Beryl Ranard in Waterloo. Mr. Jeffries was a member of Universalist Church.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters; Mrs. Douglas Sowers, 2062 Plymouth Avenue; and Janet Jeffries at home; a granddaughter; Sue Ellen, 2062 Plymouth Avenue; two brothers; Glen Jeffries, Route 6; and Clarence Jeffries, Lynwood, California; and two sisters; Mrs. Doris Michaelsen, 1219 Williston Avenue; and Mrs. Hansen, Huntington Par, California. His parents, one sister ad one brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Petersen Brothes Funeral Home, with Rev. Effie McCullum Jones, Webster City, Ia., former pastor of Universalist church here, officiating.
Burial will be in the cemetery at Osage, Iowa.
