Leonard A. Wilkes

EVANSDALE, IOWA - Funeral services for Leonard A. Wilkes, 70, of 155 Fourth St., will be 10 a.m. Friday at Chapel of Memories West with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Masonic services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home by Waterloo Lodge 105 AF&AM.

He died at St. Francis Hospital at 10:07 p.m. Tuesday of complications of cancer and emphysema.

He was born on November 13, 1906, in Riceville, Iowa, the son of Charley and Nellie Brunson Wilkes. He married Maria Graves Nov. 26, 1926 in Marble Rock, Iowa. He had been employed at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as a research and development engineer.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles of 559 McShane Ave.; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene Schwanke of 1516 W. Sixth St., Cedar Falls, Mrs. Merlin Doland of 223 Hope St., and Mrs. Eugene Aldrich of 1101 Columbia St.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph of Riceville.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
