WASHBURN - Ray Leo Monk Jr., 42, of Washburn, died Sunday, July 17.

He was born July 24, 1968, in Waterloo, son of Ray Sr. and Sharon Monk. He married Traci Hickman and they later divorced. On July 17, 1998, he married Jenny Parker.

Mr. Monk graduated from Central High School, Waterloo, and attended NIACC, where he played football. He worked for ASPRO and for Black Hawk County in road maintenance. He was a volunteer firefighter in Gilbertville and was a member of the Raymond Bow Hunters.

Survived by his wife; a son, Ray of Waterloo; a daughter, Mackenzi Monk of Waterloo; a stepson, Brady Morgan stationed in Fort Benning, Ga.; his parents of Avon Park, Fla.; a grandson, Jacob; and his brothers from the Gilbertville Fire Department and Raymond Bow Hunters.

Preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, with a 7 p.m. time of sharing.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.

Ray enjoyed hunting, camping, being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
