WATERLOO - George J. Marquart, 92, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, July 5, at his home in Port Hueneme, Calif.

He was born June 28, 1919, son of Samuel and Elsie Westphal Marquart. He married Kathryn Sprio Nov. 24, 1946, in Waterloo. They later divorced. He married Lorrayne Siglin March 16, 2007, in Port Hueneme, Calif.

Mr. Marquart was a U.S. Army veteran, serving five years during World War II. He was an entrepreneur in Waterloo and owned many businesses, including Baird Concrete Products Co. and Baird Satellite Systems.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Patty (Bill) Graff of Boulder, Colo.; two grandchildren, Sarah (Brian) Smith and Seth Gamber; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clark (Betty) of Charlo, Mont.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Clayton and Gordon.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and will continue for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Heart Care Center of Allen Hospital or a local hospice.
