Helen F. Turnbull, 89, of Cedar Falls Health Care Center in Cedar Falls, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the care center after a long illness. Services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Cedar Memorial's certified celebrant, Julie Freese, will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Donald) Mussman of Cedar Falls and sister Rose Conner of Cedar Rapids. She also is survived by five grandchildren; Roger and Sara Mussman of Charles City, Chad and Angie Mussman of Grand Island, Neb., Shannon and Teresa Mussman of Dubuque, Troy Mussman and Bobbi Young of Waverly and Ryan and Lisa Mussman of Grandview, Mo.; 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, and a brother, Frank Dvorak.

Helen was born on July 25, 1921, in Mason City, the daughter of John and Emma Hanzlik Dvorak.

She married Roger I. Turnbull on Aug. 20, 1940, in Albert Lea, Minn. He died in 1996. Helen was a beautician and a homemaker. She was member of the First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls and Western Fraternal Life Association of Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, boating and star gazing. Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
