WATERLOO - David W. "Rooster" Callies, 67, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, June 28, of cancer.

He was born July 3, 1943, in Waterloo, son of Elmer Jr. and Esther Murphy Callies. He married Carmen Linstrom on May 3, 1964, and they later divorced. He married Rosemary A. McDermott on Feb. 25, 1985, at the Chapel of Love, Reno, Nev.

Mr. Callies graduated from Orange High School in 1961. He worked for Motor Winding, International Transport, Midwest Refrigeration, and at United Concrete as a driver and dispatcher. He was a member of the National Street Rod Association (NSRA) and American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) and Teamsters Local 238.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Andrea (Shawn) Hottle of Waterloo and Lisa Callies of Ankeny; a son, Justin (Marta) of Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren, Dakota and Blake Hottle, and David and Kenzie Callies; a sister, Barbara (Theodore) Anderson of Waterloo; and a nephew and niece, Sean Anderson of Sandwich, Mass., and Tamara Nelson of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in by his parents; and an uncle, Dale Callies

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Orange Township Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
