WATERLOO - Juanita M. Ferger, 92, of Waterloo, died Monday, June 20, at Affinity House, from complications of age.

She was born April 19, 1919, in rural Independence, daughter of Ernest R. and Pearl M. Holbrook Merrill. She married Charles Newlon on April 21, 1937, in Waterloo, and they later divorced. She then married Leo Stark in April 1946 in Tama, and they later divorced. She then married Al Plageman in Minnesota in 1963, and they later divorced. She then married Art Ferger in 1976 in Des Moines. He died in 1994.

Survived by three daughters, Sharon Lichty of Waterloo, Charlene (Kenny) Kass of Dunkerton and Nancy (Jack) Meyers of La Porte City; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Preceded in death by a brother, LaVerne Merrill; and three granddaughters, Lori, Lisa and Diana.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Poyner Township Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and an hour before services Saturday at the chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the family or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Juanita was a great nature lover and an avid fisherman. She spent many years in Minnesota. She loved her family and taking her grandchildren fishing and was known to ride a four-wheeler and go-cart with them. Dancing and country music were a lifelong passion.
