WATERLOO - Miriam "Mim" Sayler, 87, of Des Moines, formerly of Waterloo and Hudson, died Thursday, June 16, at her daughter's home of natural causes.

She was born April 9, 1924, in Waterloo, daughter of Hans Christian and Sena Madsen Andersen. She married Robert T. Sayler March 4, 1950, in Cedar Falls. He died Sept. 11, 2005.

She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1942 and attended UNI. She worked at John Deere during World War II, then was a loan and savings teller at National Bank of Waterloo where her former East High classmate was also working. She helped with their Denver Hardware Store in Denver, and at the Sayler Southside Mart in Hudson. She was a life-long member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church.

Survived by a daughter, Janice (David) Petheram of Des Moines; two granddaughters, Laura Petheram of Ankeny and Emily Petheram of Norwalk; a grandson, Scott Petheram of Des Moines; and two cousins, Bonnie and Barri Adelsberg of New Orleans.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Iowa Health Home Care Hospice.
