WATERLOO - George William Carter, 68, of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, June 4, of natural causes.

He was born April 25, 1943, in Des Moines, son of George W. Sr. and Louise Rockett Carter. He married Helen Mattox in Des Moines in 1964, and they later divorced.

Mr. Carter was employed at Jewish Hospital, Denver, Colo., for 15 years prior to retirement. He was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survived by two sons, Julius of Atlanta and Derrick (Arlene) of Bon Aire, Ga.; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Donald (Kaye) of Detroit, Gary (Barbara) of Des Moines and Robert of Fort Madison; and two sisters, Darlene Carter and Delores (George) Meeks, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Ronald.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Greer Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at church.
