WATERLOO - Mardelle Pauline Sutter Strudthoff, 85, of Mount Pleasant, Texas, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, May 20, at Titus Regional Medical Center, Mount Pleasant.

She was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Elgin, daughter of William and Bessie Schneider Sutter. She married Henry R. Strudthoff on April 14, 1945, in Waterloo. He died Dec. 29, 1986.

Mrs. Strudthoff graduated from West Union High School, West Union, in 1943. She worked as a claims representative for Travelers Insurance from 1963 to 1980, then at Rath Packing Co. from 1981 until her retirement. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Waterloo and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Mount Pleasant.

Survived by a son, Richard "Rick" (Connie) of Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Cathleen "Cathy" (Gregory) Robinson of Forest City, N.C.; five grandchildren, Ryan (Alia) Strudthoff of Texarkana, Texas, Cristina Strudthoff of Mount Pleasant, Laurie (Philip) Bauerly of Walker, Minn., Karen (Carlton) Holbert of Concord, N.C., and Jennifer (Christopher) Nicklis of Dallas, Ga.; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Monica Smith of Osage.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2820 W. Ferguson Road, Mount Pleasant, TX 75455, in lieu of flowers.

Mardelle was very family oriented. She was a gifted seamstress and took delight in making dresses for all her granddaughters. As a young woman, Mardelle made pies that she then sold in her father's store and throughout the remainder of her life she enjoyed baking for her family.
