WATERLOO - "Jack" John Louis Rolinger, 78, of Phoenix, formerly of Waterloo, died May 3 in Phoenix.

He was born Nov. 4, 1932, in Waterloo, son of Louis and Edna Rolinger. He married Johnella Roby in 1966.

Mr. Rolinger graduated from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, with a bachelor's degree and from the University of Iowa with a master's degree. He was an instructor and coach at Logan Junior High School, and later served as coordinator of Adult Education at Ankeny College, Ankeny. After moving to Phoenix in 1985 he was employed at Phoenix College as director of Student Support Services from 1986 until retiring in 1999. He was a founding member of WESTOP (Western Association of Educational Opportunity Personnel).

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Carmen Carr Shudde; a grandson; a sister, Joan Munday of Iowa City; and a brother, Russell of Waterloo.

Memorial celebration of life will be planned in the fall.
