WATERLOO - Michael Oren, 65, of Bend, Ore., and Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, May 13, at Hospice of the Valley, Sun City, after a brief illness.

He was born in Waterloo on April 12, 1946, son of Leo K. and Mary E. Bradfield Oren. He married his wife Pat in 1990.

Mr. Oren graduated from Waterloo West High School and The University of Northern Iowa. He received his master's degree from The University of Missouri, Columbia. He retired from Palo Verde Nuclear Plant, Phoenix, seven years ago. He then split his time between his homes in Bend and Sun City.

Survived by wife; two sons, William of Virginia and Jeff of Czech Republic; two stepsons; a stepdaughter; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two sisters, Marilyn Baker (Bill) of Peoria, Ariz., and Patti Jo O'Loughlin (Danny) of Marietta, Ga.; and a brother, James Estell of Wisconsin.

Preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, A.J. "Buck" Estell; and a brother, Darrell Estell.
