CEDAR FALLS - Merwin H. Schloman, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 13, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

He was born June 17, 1926, near Readlyn, son of Henry August and Irene Warneke Schlomann. He married Verla D. Johnson June 30, 1946, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

He graduated from Denver High School in 1945. Mr. Schloman owned and operated Cedar Heights Carpet Installation Service, retiring in 2001.

Survived by his wife; four daughters, Mary Jean (Jerome) Pesartic of Phoenix, Nancy Irene (Robert Jr.) Nichols of Scottsdale, Ariz., Joanne Carol (Gary) Mayo of Cedar Falls and Brenda Sue (Roscoe) Mueller of LaJunta, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Michelle DuBois, Tamara Gerbich, Bryan Pesartic, Tiffani Nichols, Robert Nichols Jr., Scott Mayo, Stacie Mayo, Jordan Mayo, Mitchell Mueller, Alyssa Mueller, Blake Mueller and Brooklyn Mueller; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Duane Schlomann of Denver.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
