WATERLOO - Wendell D. Tarbor, 70, of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 30, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Jan. 8, 1941, in Chicago, son of Escoa D. Sr. and Anna Phillips Tarbor. He married Naomi Horton in 1961 in Waterloo and later divorced. He then married Diane Holly on July 23, 1966, in Chicago, and they later divorced.

Mr. Tarbor was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed as an engineer at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works. He also worked as a bartender at Uptown Jazz.

Survived by two sons, Wendell (Marie) Tarbor of Cedar Rapids and Fred (Demetrice) Olive of Waterloo; two daughters, Nayetta (Aaron) Tarbor Roby of Washington, D.C., and Nicole Tarbor of Chicago; five grandchildren; three brothers, Marshon (Betty) and Shedrick Glover, both of Waterloo, and Demetrius (Shanea) Glover of Texas; four sisters, Juanita Sanders and Yvonne Vaughn, both of Chicago, Darlene Lucas of Waterloo and Pamela (Victor) Marshall of Georgia; and longtime companion, Dorothy Olive of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his father; his mother and stepfather, Anna and William Glover; a brother, Escoa Jr.; and a sister, Sharon Glover.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Payne Memorial AME Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the church by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 303 Arlington St., where they will receive friends.
