Tyler James Schulz, 47, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Waterloo, died April 29 at St. John's Medical Center, Springfield, after a short battle with lung cancer. A Celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

He was born Feb. 1, 1964, in Waterloo, son of Gary and Susan Schulz.

Mr. Schulz attended schools in Waterloo and high school in Bozeman, Mont., and Osage, attended Southwest Community College in Creston and received his Associate of Arts degree from State Fair College in Sedalia, Mo. He had been a Realtor with Equitable Realty and Christy's Great Estates in Phoenix.

He is survived by his parents; a brother, Jeffrey (Kim) of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Lori Reynolds (Rick) of Bozeman, and Marti Delgado (Gabino) of Springfield; 16 nieces and nephews; three great-nieces; 13 aunts and uncles; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hilbert and Mildred Schulz and Robert and Corinne Dunkelberg; and a nephew, Danny Reynolds.

Ty enjoyed serving others and also worked in fine dining for much of his adult life at such places as The Lodge of Four Seasons in Osage Beach, Mo., Annie's at The Savery Hotel in Des Moines, and the Wrigley Mansion and the Ritz Carlton, both in Phoenix. He enjoyed classical music and art and was a talented interior decorator and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
