CEDAR FALLS- Howard O. Bidne, 89, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born March 7, 1922 in Northwood, son if Iver and Bertha (Jorde) Bidne. He married Marietta Wyborney and she preceded him in death. He then married Bernice Rowell on December 2, 1977 in Waterloo.

He served as platoon sergeant in the US Army during WWII. He graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) and attended Yale University. He was employed in Sales and Marketing with Rath Packing Company for 37 years, retiring in March 1984.

Survived by his wife, Bernice; two step-sons, Bruce and Tom Rowell, both of Waterloo, IA; a step-daughter, Susan (Dana) Paulsen of Evansdale, IA; two grandchildren, Eric and Elissa Paulsen; and two brothers, Bertram and Bernard Bidne, both of Northwood, IA.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold and Iver; one sister, Eleanor Wilson; and a step-son, Richard Rowell.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with inurnment in Waterloo Cemetery. Military honors conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Richardson Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
