DUNKERTON - Betty Jane Nagel, 90, of Dunkerton, died Tuesday, April 12, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, following a long illness.

She was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Waterloo, daughter of Paul Vinton and Gladys Loraine Willier Stealy. She married Gerald Walter Nagel on June 5, 1947, at Linden United Methodist Church, Waterloo. He died May 17, 1993.

Mrs. Nagel graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1939, then attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She worked at many Waterloo area businesses over the years, including Rath Packing Co. and Mid Continent and Pepsi-Cola Bottling, retiring from there in 1987. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, Evansdale.

Survived by a daughter, Paulette (David) Woods of Evansdale; a son, Alen (Rebecca) of Waterloo; three grandsons, Jeremie (Jennifer) Nagel of Dunkerton, Jeffrey Woods of Evansdale and Jason (Amy) Nagel of Roscoe, Ill.; five great-grandchildren, Jenna, Justine, Jordyn, Grant and Quinn Nagel; and special friend, Sheryl Wallace of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a sister, Loraine Graham; a brother, Paul Stealy Jr.; seven brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Evangelical Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and Cedar Bend Humane Society.
