WATERLOO - Mary V. Jones, 88, of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 3, at Lakeview Landing.
She was born March 1, 1923, in Fremont, Neb., daughter of Charles and Dorothy Reed Wordehoff. She married William T. Jones on Aug. 3, 1974, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo. He died June 28, 1993.
Mrs. Jones graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College with a bachelor's degree in teaching and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a master's degree in library science. She was employed at Waterloo West High School as a teacher librarian. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Survived by two stepdaughters, Paddy (Craig) Ham and Becky (Chuck) Adams, both of Waterloo; a stepson, Steve (Elaine) Jones of Topeka, Ind.; seven stepgrandchildren, Chad (Kris) Ham, Andrea (Larry) Garrison, Tony (Cindy) Young, Matthew Young, Leonard (Rosetta) Jones, Loren (Susie) Jones and Seth Jones; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren, Connor and Caleb Ham, Zander and Zachary Young, Jessica and Maria Avino, Brianna and Zoe Lenton, Katrina, Krista and Ethan Jones, and Sabrina Jones; two sisters, Vera (Harold) Mohr of Manchester and Mary Joan Bowen of Boone, N.D.; and three nephews, Stephen (Linda) Duvall of Mason City, Melvin (Claire) Duvall of DeKalb, Ill., and Marvin Duvall of St. Louis.
Preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Paul Wordehoff; and a sister, Virginia Duvall.
Services: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Visitation for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.
