WATERLOO - Sally Jo Conner, 70, of Waterloo, died Thursday, March 31, at Allen Hospital.

She was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Waterloo, daughter of Orval and Bertha McAninch Anderson. She married Gerald D. Conner on April 11, 1970, in Waterloo. He died Dec. 26, 1997.

Mrs. Conner graduated from Waterloo East High School and worked at Allen Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Waterloo Eagle's and Home Owners/Renters Association.

Survived by two sons, Marty (Bea) and Gus (Trudy), both of Waterloo; a daughter, Barb (Duane) Oldenburger of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Lexie Conner, Amber Thoms, Travis (Wendy) Chapman, Tracy (Brett) Ohrt, Kayla Conner, Troy Rugger, and Linsey and Ryan Oldenburger; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bud (Vicki) Anderson of Waterloo and Bill (JoAnn) Anderson of Littleton; a sister, Nancy (Larry) Jergens of Cedar Falls; and multitudes of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Rex and Sherry Anderson; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Delbert Ackerman; and a niece, Charlene Overmann.

After her marriage she became very involved in St. Mary's Church and School as a volunteer, and later received the Governor's Volunteer Award. Her large family and circle of friends were the center of her life and she cherished her grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family in lieu of flowers.
