LA PORTE CITY - Jessie May Mabb, 89, of La Porte City, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, March 29, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

She was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Eden Township, Fayette County, daughter of Will and Emma Phillips Steadman. She married Gene Mabb on May 24, 1953, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died in 1988.

Mrs. Mabb worked for a period of time at a dry cleaning shop and later at a grocery store.

Survived by three sons, Dean of Brandon, David of Clermont and Dennis (Barb) of Bemidji, Minn.; two daughters, Susan (Mike) Halligan of Brandon and Mary (Mike) Burger of Jesup; 12 grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sarah Straw of Lawler.

Preceded in death by 10 siblings, Marie, Oscar, Alvin, Bill, Roger, Guy, Blanche, Ethel, Marion and Forrest Steadman.

Visitation 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Burnham Wood Funeral Home, West Union, with burial in God's Acres Cemetery, rural Clermont. No further services are planned. The Burnham-Wood & S. K. Rogers Funeral Homes, West Union, are in charge of arrangements.
