WATERLOO — Anicueta "Ann" Scallan, 102, of Waterloo and Cedar Falls, formerly of Waucoma, died Monday, March 21, at Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls.

She was born Dec. 4, 1908, in rural Waucoma, daughter of James and Anna Lynch Scallan. She attended school in Waucoma and at Gates Business College, Waterloo. In 1929 she accepted a federal position in Washington, D.C., United States Patent Office in the administrative section, retiring in 1970.

Survived by two nephews, Francis (Therese) Scallan of Waucoma and James (Becky) Scallan of Kenai, Alaska; and a niece, Mary (Kevin) Kelly of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Lowell Scallan; a sister, Lorraine Scallan; and a sister-in-law, Rosamond Scallan.

Services 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waucoma, with burial in St. Rose Cemetery, rural Waucoma. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Waucoma Funeral Chapel, Waucoma, with a 4 p.m. Scripture service and a 5 p.m. rosary. The Burnham-Wood & S. K. Rogers Funeral Homes, West Union, are in charge of arrangements.
