WATERLOO - Vernon R. "Bob" Spooner, 60, of Waterloo, died Friday, March 18, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Oct. 24, 1950, in Waterloo, son of Harvey "Dutch" and Marion Stewart Spooner. He married Kay Nichols April 19, 1996, in Waterloo.

Mr. Spooner was a self-employed roofer in the Waterloo area for many years.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Dutch of Waverly and Jamie (Amanda) Gleason of Waterloo; six daughters, Deis Ray of Waterloo, Darla of Washburn, Sunnie Gabard of New York, Misty Spooner and Bridget Graham, both of Waterloo, and Bobbi of Waverly; 15 grandchildren; three brothers, Steve Amo (Deb) of Sumner, John of Fort Dodge and Steve Howard of Waterloo; five sisters, Amanda (Stephen) Poisel of Hillsborough, Ore., Kathy (John) Greene of Evansdale, Diana (Steve) Farrell of Independence, and Viria and Nyleeta, both of Waterloo; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. Public visitation will be for an hour before services on Tuesday.
