WATERLOO - Albert Moorehead Jr., 85, of Waterloo, died Friday, March 18, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born March 11, 1926, in Watervalley, Miss., son of Albert Moorehead Sr. and Lillian Alexander. He married Suyvella Brown in Waterloo. They later divorced. He married Jeanette Shipp in Waterloo. She preceded him in death.

He was employed at Hawkeye Steel and was a custodian at University of Northern Iowa where he retired. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.

Survived by a daughter, Alberta Moorehead of Waterloo; a godsister, Lola Dean Washington of Waterloo; a grandson, Garret White; a great-granddaughter, Garis White of Austin, Texas; and aunts and many nieces, nephews, cousins and very close friends.

Preceded in death by a brother, William "Dudy"; a daughter, Laithier Moorehead-Davis.

Services 11 a.m. Wednesday at Payne Memorial A.M.E. Church, with burial in the Field of Honors section of Garden of Memories where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion 138 and V.F.W. Post 1623. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Sanders Funeral Service.
