WATERLOO - Harold Walvatne, 81, of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, March 9.

He was born May 2, 1929, in Fayette County, son of George and Annie Torkelson Walvatne. He married Betty P. Williamson on June 8, 1954, at Western Avenue Gospel.

Mr. Walvatne was employed at Rath Packing Co. and Waterloo Farm Systems. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War.

Survived by his wife; a son, Steve (Kathy) of Hawkeye; a daughter, Marcia (Robert) Finley of Masonville; a daughter-in-law, Linda (William) Lavery of Parkersburg; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arlene Peck of Marion and Hazel Walvatne of West Union; two sisters-in-law, June Walvatne of Hawkeye and Betty Williamson of Parkersburg; a brother-in-law, Robert Smid of West Union; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son, Mark; three brothers, Adrian, Vernel and Norris; four sisters, Gladys Wardell, LaVanda Walvatne, Marion Walvatne and Helen Smid; and three brothers-in-law, Willard Peck, Harold Wardell Herb Williamson and Robert Williamson.

Harold came to know the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior on Dec. 17, 1959, and was in fellowship with the Christians gathered at the Western Avenue Gospel Hall for 50 years.

Services 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
