CEDAR FALLS - Steven E. Mitchell, 58, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, March 10, at his home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1952, in Waterloo, son of Donald and Melba Reeves Mitchell. He married Mary Ann Madarang April 21, 1977, in Redwood City, Calif.

He attended Waterloo West High School and was employed with the Cedar Falls Community School District since 1994.

Survived by a son, Brian of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Jenny Locke of Cedar Falls, Kim (Chad) Welshans of Evansdale and Michele (Adam Linder) of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Megan and Nick Locke, C.J. and Katelyn Welshans, Seth Mitchell, and James Linder; a brother, Robert (Sue) of Evansdale; a sister, Vicky Simmons of Marshalltown; two half sisters, Angela of Waterloo and Donna (Phil) Stanford of San Antonio, Texas; a stepbrother, Gordon (Mary) Vaughn of Cedar Falls; a stepsister, Linda Hazlet of Waterloo; his father, Donald (Trudy) of Traer; and his mother, Melba Tweedt of San Antonio.

Preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald Tweedt; and a son-in-law, Mike Locke.

Public visitation 1 to 4 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, with 11:30 a.m. inurnment Wednesday in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls, following cremation.
