WATERLOO - Kathleen B. "Kay" Lanigan, 86, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, March 9, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Sioux City. She married Roger Lanigan on Aug. 2, 1945, in Sioux City. He died Aug. 24, 1963.

Mrs. Lanigan was an office manager for Briggs Transportation, retiring in 1980. She then worked with the Teamsters Union, Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging and owned and operated Downtown Lounge.

Survived by three sons, Timothy (Bev) and Michael, both of Waterloo, and Stephen (Cindy) of Lenexa, Kan.; a daughter, Gigi (Tony) Burns of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Roger, Matt, Lauren and Erin Lanigan and Nicole and Stephanie Burns; three great-grandchildren, Jordin, Rachel and Abigail Lanigan; and a brother, Elmer Thoma of Denver, Colo.

Preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Joe, Roman and Bob Thoma; and two sisters, Betty Gunick and Maryanne Hoffman.

Services 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.
