CEDAR FALLS - Ronnie R. Streed, 68, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, March 2, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following cardiothoracic surgery.

He was born June 17, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas, son of Rodney E. and Sally L. Hartman Streed. He married Christine S. "Crit" Campbell June 1, 1971, in Cedar Falls.

He graduated from Bushy Park Central High School in London, England. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army during Viet Nam. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in art education, and received a master's degree from UNI in 1978. He was an art instructor with the Cedar Falls School System for 32 years, retiring from Holmes Jr. High in 2001. He also taught art at international schools: Lincoln School in Katmandu, Nepal, and Colegio Interamericano, Guatemala.

Survived by his wife; two brothers, Denny and Terry, both of Orlando, Fla.; and two sisters, Kathy Armstrong of Orlando and Jenny Selig of Antreville, S.C.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Somer Campbell Streed.

Memorial services: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Georgian Lounge, Commons Bulding, University of Northern Iowa.

Memorial fund: for the Mr. Streed Art Scholarship Fund is being established.
