WATERLOO — Ruby Ellen Williams, 86, of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, Feb. 26.

She was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Garrison, daughter of Harland and Mae Sturtz Christy. She married Everett Williams on Feb. 8, 1946, in Garrison. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Williams graduated from Garrison School District and received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Northern Iowa. She taught in Benton and Black Hawk counties for 31 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Hammond Avenue Brethren Church.

Survived by two daughters, Mary (Dick) Orth of Omaha, Neb., and Linda (Ken) Renfro of Salt Lake City; a brother, Robert Christy of Vinton; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Myron Christy; and a son, Alan.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hammond Avenue Brethren Church, preceded by burial at 9:30 a.m. in Orange Township Cemetery. Visitation 5 to 7 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.
