WATERLOO - Donald M. Kniss, 81, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Feb. 27, at Rosewood Estates of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Waterloo, son of Kenneth and Opal Reece Kniss. He married Shirley Stamy on June 15, 1956, in Waterloo. She died Oct. 29, 2000.

He was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.

Survived by a sister-in-law, Jean (Charles) Hensley of Des Moines; and nieces and nephews, Karen Anderson, Jane Ivanovich, Steve Hensley and Kirk, Kent, Kevin and Karen Kniss.

Preceded in death by a brother, Dale.

Graveside Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Orange Township Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. There will be no visitation. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.
