WATERLOO — Sandra LaVonne "Sandi" Hampton Rasmussen, 37, of Waterloo, died Friday, Feb. 25, from injuries suffered in a fire at her home.

She was born Oct. 29, 1973, in Iowa City, daughter of Kenneth and Judith Heidemann Hampton. She married David Rasmussen Sr. on Nov. 11, 1995, in Waverly.

Mrs. Rasmussen attended Waterloo East High School and received her GED from Hawkeye Community College in 1992. She was a bartender at 13th Step in Waterloo.

Survived by her husband; seven children, Andrew Hampton, James Hampton, David Rasmussen Jr., Bradlee Rasmussen, Keith Kenneth Rasmussen II, Cheyanne Rasmussen and Skyelr Rasmussen, all of Waterloo; her mother, Judy (Ron) Sands of Evansdale; and five brothers, Kenneth (Vikki), Kevin Sr., Timmy (Jen) and Billy Hampton, all of Waterloo, and Albert M. (Victoria) Hampton Sr. of Jesup.

Preceded in death by her father.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Garden of Memories at a later date. Public visitation for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

She gave her ultimate sacrifice while saving the life of one of her children. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, cooking, baking, unicorns, dream catchers and road trips. Sandi was a strong woman who lived life to the fullest. She especially loved her children.
