WATERLOO — Rudolph "Doc" Martin Sr., 86, of 1231 Beech St., died Monday, Feb. 21, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Des Moines, son of Elza Martin and Clarisce Brown. He married Lauretta Butler on Aug. 2, 1947, in Waterloo. She died Dec. 16, 2006.

Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Army and retired from Rath Packing Co.

Survived by: three daughters, Cheryl Mosley and Deborah Johnson, both of Waterloo, and Ruthie (Myron) Jones of Washington, D.C.; three sons, Henry (Lorine) Butler of Pasadena, Calif., and Robert L. (Sheila) Butler and Rudolph Jr. (Velma) Martin, both of Waterloo; two grandchildren whom he raised, Gina (Mike) McCutchison of Waterloo and Kevin (Vivian) Martin of North Las Vegas; 21 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, William Martin; two sisters, Gladys Moore and Oleada Martin.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Corinthian Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the church by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Visitation 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church. Sanders Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 1231 Beech St., where they will receive friends.
