MAGER, RIGDON, BARRON, SCHOONOVER, DALLUGE

WATERLOO — Marie Susan Rigdon Mager, 87, of Waterloo, died at home Sunday, Feb. 13, of natural causes.

She was born March 23, 1923, on the family farm in Waterloo, daughter of John Henry and Anna Elizabeth Barron Rigdon. She married Russell L. Mager on Jan. 19, 1943, in Clovis, N.M.

Ms. Mager graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1940. She worked for the Waterloo schools, retiring in 1988 as a secretary at Waterloo West High School. Additionally, she worked as a switchboard operator at Sears, also retiring in 1988. Following retirement, she worked for 20 years as a Hawkeye Senior Companion. She was a member of Cedar Valley Community Church.

Survived by former husband, Russell; three sons, Steve of Waterloo, Brian of San Diego and Brent of Oelwein; two daughters, Anne (Howard) Schoonover of Garrison and Rebecca (James) Dalluge of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; six sisters; five brothers; and a granddaughter, Miaha Faye Mager.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Valley Community Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation 9:30 a.m. until services Saturday at the church. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Marie had an incredible memory and was a walking notebook of family history. Just a week prior to her death, Marie was able to narrate a video of family history. She enjoyed her extended family, and her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.
