WATERLOO — Robert Lee Smith, 52, of Waterloo, died at home Friday, Feb. 11.

He was born March 7, 1958, in Tchula, Miss., son of Joe Polk and Janie Mae Smith.

Mr. Smith was employed with the city of Waterloo for 10 years until disability.

Survived by three daughters, Nikki Smith, Andrea Jones and Lakesa Martin, all of Waterloo; five sons, William Maurice (Shelia) and Martavis Smith, Orlando (Michelle) Cooper and Edward Martin, all of Waterloo, and Romondus (Melissa) Cooper of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; his mother of Waterloo; a sister, Ruthie Lauer of Waterloo; and six brothers, L.C. (Belinda), Joseph (Viola), Willie (Monique), Charles (Lisa) and Terry Smith, and Tracy Wright, all of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his grandparents; his father; a brother, Henry Smith; and a granddaughter, Heaven Smith.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Union Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Robert enjoyed exercising, walking, biking, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He loved his children and grandchildren.
