WATERLOO - Gloria Emma Johnson Harpel, 78, of Sandusky, Ohio, formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, Feb. 13, at Elmwood Healthcare Center at the Springs, Green Springs, Ohio, after a lengthy illness.

She was born April 16, 1932, in Waterloo, daughter of Clifford and Nora Nelson Johnson. She married Richard Harpel, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Harpel retired in 2008 from Good Night Inn Inc., after 35 years of service.

Survived by two daughters, Pamela (Mark) Osmon and Sandra Harpel, both of Fremont, Ohio; two sons, Daniel (Jacqueline) and David, both of Sandusky; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathleen Johnson of Louisiana and Cynthia (Roger) Davis of Iowa.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Evalyn Thomas and Eleanor Fraztke; and three brothers, Roy, Harold and Clifford Johnson.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Groff Funeral Home, Sandusky, with burial in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, Ohio. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
