WATERLOO - Valva Dean Pelikan, 77, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 5, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Merrinran, Neb., daughter of Orval E. and Edna R. Pollard Eaton. She married Clement “Clem” Pelikan on Feb. 7, 1970, in Waterloo. He died Jan. 21, 2008.

Survived by two daughters, Pam (Gene) McNamara of Dunkerton and Diane Pelikan Reed of Seguin, Texas; a son, Richard Nielson; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Gaffney; and a son-in-law, Ron Gaffney.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
