WATERLOO - Laura J. Ward, 43, of Waterloo, died Friday, Feb. 4, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Aug. 15, 1967, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Gale O. and M. Joan Smelser Johnson. She married Doug Atchison Jan. 29, 2011.

She was employed at Oral-B in Iowa City and Target Distribution Center in Cedar Falls. She also worked in shipping and receiving department of John Deere.

Survived by her husband; four stepdaughters, Mackenzie Ward of Cedar Rapids, Breeann Atchison of Waverly, Elaina Atchison of Waterloo and Mickell Atchison of Bradford; her mother of Evansdale; her father of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Randy (Janet) Johnson and Greg Johnson, both of Waterloo; four sisters, Sandra (Tony) Holkan of Buckingham, Deborah Johnson of Big Lake, Minn., Janette (Jerry) Arnold of Clear Lake and Pearl (Rick) Guy of Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a great-niece, Jessica Johnson.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with inurnment at a later date in Cedar Valley Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and for an hour before services Wednesday.
