CEDAR FALLS - Solveig Gregory, 69, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Jan. 31, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

She was born July 5, 1941, in Ringsted, daughter of the Rev. Harold and Ardis Nielsen Petersen. She married Larry Gregory on June 23, 1963, in Askov, Minn.

Mrs. Gregory graduated from Askov High School, Grand View College in Des Moines and Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) with a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in music. She was an organist and director of music at Bethlehem Lutheran Church for more than 30 years and taught piano for 50 years. She was an English teacher with the Cedar Falls School System and taught at Morton West High School, Berwyn, Ill.

She was a member for many years of P.E.O. Chapter FV, T.T.T. Chapter EM, Grand View University board of trustees and the Iowa Music Teachers Association. She also was a member of the American Guild of Organists, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, Women of the ELCA, Sartori Auxiliary, the Cedar Valley Danes, Bethlehem Lutheran Church and numerous other organizations.

Survived by her husband; two daughters, Kirsten (Todd) Kelly of Peoria, Ill., and Karen (Eric) Dowell of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Connor and Maren Kelly of Peoria and Mitchell and Kayla Dowell of Cedar Falls; and a sister, Asta (Arlen) Twedt of Ankeny.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, the Rev. Paul Petersen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with inurnment in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike, at a later date. Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Main Street Project, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, or Grand View University, Des Moines.

Solveig was an avid UNI Panthers fan.
