WATERLOO — Susan Marie Swartz, 61, died Monday, Jan. 31, at home.

She was born Aug. 31, 1949, in Waterloo, daughter of Edwin and Beatrice Corwin Close.

She worked as an aide at Parkview Gardens Care Center for 15 years, U.S. West for 10 years and A to Z Day Care for three years.

Survived by a son, Anthony "Tony" Kugel of Arkansas; a daughter, Dawn (Preston Jorgenson) Frazee of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Brittany, Bryanna, Austin, Jocelyn, Serenity, Shawna, Chance and Destiny; a great-grandson; and her sister at heart, Carol (Rick) Stewart of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services at 10 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.
