D. W. HASTINGS

Services for D. W. (Bill) Hastings, 49, 303 Longview Dr., will be at 1:30 p.m.
tomorrow at St. Timothy's United Methodist Church, with burial at Memorial Park
Cemetery. Mr. Hastings died of a heart attack at 12:90 p.m. Friday at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was bom Jan. 15, 1924*, at Ayrshire, the son of Orrin and Myrtle Hastings. He married Dixie Foulk in Minnesota.

He was the manager of Hummel's Smoke Shop and Luncheonette, 301 W. Fourth, and formerly with the Iowa, Highway Patrol.

He is survived by his wife; a son Brent, at home; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Brian Perry of Cedar Rapids; a stepson, Ronald C. Bourret of Kansas City Mo.; his mother, Mrs. O.W. Hastings, Spencer, and a brother, Stanley D., Spencer.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Martin Lodge No. 620 A.F. and A.M. will open the lodge at 7 p.m. today for public Masonic services at Locke Funeral Home at 7.30 p.m.

So this submitter questions whether the newspaper made an error in the year of birth unless there are two "D" Hastings who were born about the same time and both died in June 1974.
