A Waterloo native, Robert Leroy Bandfield, 56, of Portland, Ore., died Oct. 4 of a heart attack while deer hunting near Enterprise, Ore.

Mr. Bandfield owned Byrnes Park Grocery Store before moving to Portland 19 years ago.

He was born Aug. 21, 1914, in Waterloo, the son of John and Mae Smith Bandfield. He married Hazel Nordman in Waterloo in 1940.

Survivors include his wife, his father, of Moberly, Mo., one daughter, Mrs, John Bischel of Portland, Ore., one son, Dr. Robert Bandfield of British Columbia, Canada, four brothers, William Bandfield of Dunkerton, John Bandfield of Huntington Beach, Calif., Lyle Bandfield of Moberly, Mo., Lloyd Bandfield of Rt. 3, Cedar Falls, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Lamfers of Arbutus St., Evansdale, and Mrs. Joseph Mellen of Moberly, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his mother, one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services were last Thursday at the Mount Scott Funeral Home at Portland, Ore., with burial at a military cemetery in Portland.
