WATERLOO - Thomas R. "Bob" Reese, 92, of Windhaven Assisted Living of Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls, died Monday, Jan. 3, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 28, 1918, in Mason City, son of the Rev. Thomas J. and Alice Jobusch Reese. He married Barbara Barry on Oct. 6, 1942, in Jefferson. She died Nov. 24, 2006.

Mr. Reese graduated from high school in Blair, Neb., in 1935 and earned his bachelor's degree from Morningside College and his master's degree from Drake University. He coached and taught school in Logan, Wall Lake, Coon Rapids and Onawa. In Waterloo he was a principal at Kittrell, Nellie Garvey, Whittier, Westridge, Devonshire and Castle Hill. He also was a claims adjuster for Great American Insurance Co. from 1957 to 1996. He served in the U.S. Navy on the Battleship USS Iowa in the Atlantic during World War II.

He was a member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church; a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 105; and past member of Shriners and High 12, ISEA and Elementary Principals Association of Iowa.

Survived by: a daughter, Rebecca (Bill) Telfer of Plano, Texas; a son, Barry (Kayla) Reese of Gladbrook; four grandchildren, William and Michael Telfer, and Jessica and Thomas Reese; and a great-grandson, Preston Reese Telfer.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Waterloo, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. service by Masonic Lodge No. 105
