RIVER, MARSHALL, FERUGLIO, ROBINSON, COOK

WATERLOO — Dale A. River, 82, of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 3, at Denver Sunset Home, Denver, of complications of Parkinson's disease.

He was born Jan. 12, 1928, in Howard County, son of Roy and Lois Marshall River. He married Dora E. Feruglio on Dec. 22, 1969, in Rosario, Argentina.

Mr. River was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1945-47. He graduated from LeRoy High School, LeRoy, Minn., and from Iowa State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was an engineer with John Deere Product Engineering Center for 39 years, retiring in 1993.

Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Regina Maria River of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sons, Marc E. (Romina) of Houston and Ian F. of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Camila E. River; a brother, Ross (Vivian) of Maquoketa; and two sisters, Ruth (Roland) Robinson of Cedar Rapids and Donna (Forrest) Cook of Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Preceded in death by: a brother and a sister, both in infancy.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, preceded by an hour of visitation. Military rites will be conducted at the church by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, with flag folding by the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Memorials: may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or Denver Sunset Home.
