WATERLOO - Stanley H. Horak, 95, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center, Marshalltown.

He was born July 12, 1915, in Brandon, son of Joseph and Tracie Koutney Horak. He married Georganna Stelling on April 4, 1937, in Newhall. She died May 30, 2010.

Mr. Horak graduated from Vinton High School in 1933 and was owner and operator of Stan's Shoe Shop from 1949 to 1980. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church; was past president of Iowa United Shoe Rebuilders; and was a member of the Iowa State Guard during World War II.

Survived by: a son, Gary (Donna) of Waterloo; a daughter, Nancy (Larry) Park of Marshalltown; four grandchildren, Teresa Guenther, Lorrie (Ed) Billings, Kim (Roger) Youker and Jeremy Park; four great-grandchildren, Meggan Guenther, Cole and Clair Kurtenbach, and Chandler Holsapple; and a brother, Lloyd of Sacramento, Calif.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Rosie Smouse; and two brothers, Charles and Edward.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial at a later date in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to Christian Crusaders, Iowa River Hospice, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, or Ascension Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
