WATERLOO - Thelma A. Ankeny, 95, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born May 9, 1915, in Waterloo, daughter of Peter and Jessie Walker Christiansen. She married William Swingen on July 2, 1936, in Waterloo. She later married Henry A. Ankeny on Aug. 11, 1965, in Unionville, Mo. He died in 1976.

Mrs. Ankeny worked for Dixie Creme Donuts for 14 years, then worked at Johnson's Bakery for 30 years as a baker and a bookkeeper. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Survived by: a son, Donald Swingen of Mason City; a daughter-in-law, Marigene Swingen of Cedar Falls; a stepson, LeRoy Ankeny; a stepdaughter, Carol Zanga; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Buss of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: two sons, Richard and Stanley Swingen; a grandchild; a brother, Paul Christiansen; and two sisters, Josephine Wenthe and Iris Power.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, with burial in the cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, and for an hour before services Thursday at the cemetery chapel.
